New site for 2017 – Sykeside – The Lake District

Wow! What a truly superb location; jaw dropping views at every turn, wild, quiet and away from it all with a truly remote feel, Sykeside campsite it an absolute gem, perfect for anyone who wants a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Located in the heart of the Lake District in the stunning Dovedale Valley Long Valley Yurts are pleased to we are working with Iain, Lucy and the team at Sykeside campsite to bring you two 18ft Yurts available to stay from the 7th April – 30th October.

As a location for exploring the Lake District and Cumbria we don’t think it can be beaten. A quick hop over the imposing Kirkstone Pass and down the famous “Struggle’ and you arrive in Ambleside with access from there to Winderemers, Coniston and the southern fells. A short drive to the north and you will find yourself in awe of the beautiful Ulswater Valley providing access to Helvellyn and Striding Edge. A little further afield is Keswick, the northern fells and the stunning Bassenthwaite, Crummock and Buttermere. So much to see and do all within about a 20 mile radius.

Closer to home. Leave the car or explore further afield it makes the perfect base for a variety of activities and excursions. Whether it’s a full days hike up Fairfield, a stroll around Brotherswater, a picnic, bbq, swim or trip on the Ulswater Steamers or simply just sitting back outside the Yurt enjoying the view, there is lots to do for one and all. Whatever you decide there will be a fine local ale waiting and hearty pub meal for you to enjoy next to the open fire or on the terrace in the Brotherswater Inn (located on site) upon your return.

A stones throw from the site is Glenridding, Patterdale, Pooley Bridge and the stunning Ulswater. Visit Aira Force or enjoy an afternoon tea in one of the many cafes, there is so much to see and do without ever leaving the valley.

Also available a short drive away are an array of outdoor activities. Why not try moonlit canoeing, stand up paddle boarding or make a full day of it for a peddle and paddle adventure? Also available to book with your stay are all manner of Bushcraft experiences as well as some more traditional outdoor activities such as gorge scrambling and rock climbing. The Sykeside campsite has two 18ft Yurts comfortably accommodating six persons per Yurt. A beautiful site proving a beautiful quiet retreat away from it all for families, friends and couples alike. Available from March through to November.
